last night i watched a movie at trinity where almost all fraternities, sororities, and sports teams were in attendance. the name of the film was called haze. it was a documentary about a boy named gordie bailey who died of alcohol poisoning due to hazing at a fraternity. hazing is when the older brothers or teammates make the freshman pledges or players drink excessively, embarrass themselves, or just humiliate themselves at any cost so they prove to their elders that they deserve to be part of their group. over the recent years hazing has become a huge problem on high school and college campuses across the nation. during the course of this film the audience actually got to see gordie laying face down on the floor, purple and dead. we also saw a lot more images of college students, people my age, being left outside, naked sometimes, passed out with no one around. others were bleeding severely or puking their brains out. the movie definitely used a scare tactic to get through to us; and boy did it work. gordie's little sister is now a freshman at trinity and is trying to spread the message. his family created the gordie foundation and is publicizing numbers such as how 1700 college students die each year due to alcohol reasons. i definitely think it's a good program; college students need to know how dangerous peer pressure can be and that it's ok, even a must, to call for help when a friend isn't doing alright. i want to thank my family and friends for always being there for me and for talking to me about these exact risks. while this might not pertain to many of you who are reading my blog, it is something that i'm surrounded by every single night i'm here. it's definitely a reality check, and i'm so thankful for the group of friends i have surrounded myself here with and for my family to help me through those times of need. thanks to all.

Great blogging. The reason i tell all about my alcoholism, and my involement in AA,is because some time in your life you will meet a friend with a problem with booze. At least you will have some knowledge of a solution.
