future plans
wow. i just had a guest speaker in my education 300 reform: past and present class. usually guest speakers aren't that interesting and most of us zone out. however this one was very captivating. she came in looking almost scary but as soon as she started talking you just had to listen. she was here to talk about her diverse background in education and how leadership can help to really change the educational system. she's worked in very affluent parts of ct and very urban and poor parts of arizona. she's a superintendent who has built schools, surrounded herself with a staff of the same philosophy, and has advocated for students of all ages across the nation. she was very inspirational. she told us that as someone with a trinity college degree it was our duty and responsibility to use that degree and lead. she gave tips like never to let your credentials go and keep up with them because you never know when you're going to need them again. and to never limit yourself. she always wanted to be a teacher and loved teaching, she never dreamed she would be a superintendent. she also wanted us to know the importance of culture and know there are other cultures out there and how every life experience needs to influence you and you need to use every resource you have so you can be fully prepared for your next step in life. i really enjoyed listening to her, she was great. i hope to meet more people in my life like her that come from the field i want to enter and who will help me through it and guide me. i really enjoyed what she had to say and i think that i'll be able to hold on to her words for quite a long time. i want to personally thank donna bernard for talking to my class.
