for the love of the game

well softball didn't turn out exactly as planned this year. this year we will not be going to the nescac tournament and we only have three games left of our season. this was definitely a disappointment for all of us. we've been in the tournament the last five years in a row and we're usually a sure thing. our level of play never really seemed to reach our greatest potential. we were just missing that "it" factor. Fortunately, we do still have three games to make a last impression to last until next year and work towards a winning record. we're playing for pride right now. i also have two more years left and i hope to make the best of them! personally, this was a year filled with growth. it's so amazing to see that at 20 years old and a sophomore in college that i'm still able to learn more about softball and change the  way i play in order to improve. we'll all have to look at this year as a learning year and to really do some damage in our last couple of games.

50% complete (almost)

it's hard to believe that my sophomore year of college is coming to end. in a month i will be home without a care in the world. right now it's crunch time. we only have about 2 weeks until finals. that means that everything that can possibly be due it going to be due all right around the same time. it's a lot this semester for me personally. i've never had so much to crunch for. 3 papers that all have to be at least 10 pages. one poster to go along with one of the papers. another short paper for a class that one of the 10 page papers is due in. on top of 3 final exams. that's a lot. but i've already begun to work on some stuff so that's really good. we have two weekends of softball in maine coming up back to back so i really have to make sure i spread out my work accordingly. wish me luck! but even after all of that it's still weird to think that i'm going to be half way done with college in about 3 weeks. insane!

heartfelt loses

this weekend wasn't great for trinity softball. we were swept by tufts (meaning we lost all 3 games). don't get me wrong they are a very very very good team (21-0 and 8th in the nation) but they really didn't seem like anything special. i just feel like we didn't play to our absolute potential. i feel like if we had that we could have taken at least one game maybe even two. definitely a touch three loses. this means that our playoff weekend will be at tufts in boston now. fortunately, we have shown a lot of potential and i know we can play up to it so once we get past this wall right now i know that we can be the best team out there. also, on a very good note, my sister elizabeth joined my parents this weekend in hartford to come watch me play some softball games. what a great surprise! it was great to have dinner with all of them and i thank elizabeth very much for coming up to spend some time. we have amherst next weekend so hopefully things will go a little better. i'll keep you all posted.
